BIOGAS PRODUCTION

BIOGAS PRODUCTION

BIOGAS

Biogas is produced by the anaerobic digestion without oxygen or fermentation of biodegradable materials such as manure, sewage, municipal waste, green waste, plant material and crops. This process is used for industrial or domestic purpose to manage waste.

Biogas comprises primarily Methane 60-70%, Carbondioxide 30%, small traces of Hydrogen Sulphide and moisture. Byproduct from the process is used as fertilizers.

Dealing with waste and eradicating it has become a major threat to the people all around the world. Power has also become a major concern in the Energy transition sector. Integrating these two problems by setting up Biogas plant will be a solution to the Waste Management companies and Energy sectors. Biogas is a clean Environment friendly fuel which emits zero pollution when used in industries or in vehicles. It is cheap and versatile Renewable Energy source. Reduces Greenhouse gas emissions. It has a great environmental and economic advantage over other alternate fuels.

Most of the biogas plants worldwide are built based on liquid-type anaerobic digestion (AD), wherein biomass (usually animal dung) and water are mixed in equal amounts to form a slurry in which the content of total solids is about 10-15% (TS – total solids, DM – dry matter).
